Spira's corporate management team is comprised of individuals with diverse industry and educational backgrounds. Each member of the management team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Spira Data Corp. and are committed to delivering the most robust, reliable wireless field ticketing solution to the marketplace.
Jon Watts, CEO
Jon Watts is the co-founder and past President of Spira Data Corp. Spira Data Corp. is a leading innovator and provider of electronic data management software solutions for the oil and gas services and energy industries.
Jon has 17 years of experience in implementing financial and operational solutions for large and small organizations including Fording Coal and CEDA. He also spent 10 years as President for a business consulting group where he provided consulting and system solutions services to a wide range of organizations, including oil and gas services and construction companies.
Jon’s experience with business process and design has enabled him to assist organizations in managing and automating their paper process while ensuring that all controls and reporting are maintained. Jon's background is integral to the key product direction of all Spira software products.
Jon has a Management Degree from the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Darcy Tuer, President
Darcy is the co-founder and President of Spira Data Corp. and oversees operations related to product deployment, sales and marketing, certification, support and infrastructure as well as strategic production direction. Prior to Spira, Darcy was the Founder and Managing Director of Halo Networks Inc. from 2001 to 2004. Halo provided field data capture and management application development to a wide array of customers, such as Enbridge Pipelines and ARC Energy Trust.
Darcy also worked as an Integrity Engineer for Enbridge Pipelines. His role was to establish systems and processes for effective data management associated to pipeline integrity and subsequent engineering analysis. It was through his experience dealing with the consistent lack of timely and reliable data in the energy, transmission and service sectors that Darcy began to see the opportunity for building software specifically for those needs. Prior to Enbridge, Darcy worked in various capacities with TransCanada Pipelines and PanCanadian Petroleum.
Darcy has an Electrical Engineering degree from the Universtiy of Calgary.
James St. Clair, Chief Technology Officer
James is the Chief Technology Officer of Spira Data Corp. and oversees technology direction and product development. James has 20+ years experience in high technology and software product development.
James has been a researcher for energy related software simulations systems for the U.S. Department of Energy. He led the development of an autonomous tracking lab for Texas Instruments, and the development team for the smart weapons image-based targeting systems. Later he was appointed to the corporate venture projects group at Texas Instruments where he acquired patents related to the Digital Mirror Device (DLP) development.
More recently, Mr. St. Clair has been assisting in the development of oilfield software technology in Calgary. He has assisted numerous Calgary start-ups in their product goals as well as mature organizations such as the Calgary Health Region and Symantec.
James has degrees from M.I.T. and the University of Tennessee. Additionally, he is a member of ACM and IEEE, and frequently is a voting member on software and systems engineering standards.
Craig Latimer, Vice President Sales
Craig is the Vice President of Sales at Spira Data Corp. He is responsible for overseeing the sales strategy, generation and management. Craig has been involved in the oil and gas sector gaining invaluable oil and gas experience during his tenure at Marathon Oil as a geologist for over 10 years.
During this time, Craig realized inefficiencies in business processes between client and service providers. Based on these inefficiencies, he moved on to work in partnership with Darcy Tuer at Halo Networks, in a sales capacity, to aid with technological solutions that could address some of the industry’s business challenges. Craig then joined Jon Watts, Darcy Tuer and James St. Clair to start up Spira Data Corp. Craig understands the challenge data collection and transactional exchange allowing him to strongly represent Spira Data in the market.
Craig has a Busines Degree from the University of Calgary.
